Reasons for changing the name of the Lorentz Gun

On February 23, 2007, a company in Scottsdale AZ issued legal threats against LOD regarding the Lorentz Gun's previous name. The Lorentz Gun was designed and built in 1991 as a purely experimental device, and was obviously never intended for resale. The Lorentz Gun had it's previous name since its inception 16 years ago, without incident. The previous name can no longer be mentioned here.

LOD acknowledges that the Scottsdale company now owns the trademark to this word, and we have immediately removed all references to the previous name.

Frankly, it's difficult to imagine how any 'consumer confusion' would result (customer accidentally buys a 4000 pound Marx Bank instead of a hand-held stun gun) or unfair competition since the Lorentz Gun is not for sale. It's more probable that the offended party simply did not comprehend the description of the Lorentz Gun.

'Lorentz Gun' is actually a more accurate description for the LOD 110kV system, which delivers 1000's of times more power than the devices offered by the manufacturer issuing the legal threat below.
