How does lightning form inside a storm cloud? This is one of the greatest modern-day electrical mysteries!
In the 90s researchers discovered that electric fields in storm clouds are far too weak to break down air... Yet thousands of lightning strikes hit the earth every minute. Storm clouds use some yet unknown trick to make up the difference.
Our goal is to reproduce the electrical conditions inside storm clouds, where we can observe for the first time how lightning performs its unusual magic.

The 1:3 scale coil is up and running!
Video of first Tuning Test
This 40ft high coil tower is our engineering case study for the full-scale 8.8 million volt twin towers. It's currently the largest operating Tesla tower in the world.
We plan to host public demos with this new coil once we secure a suitable test site. Stay tuned to our progress blog for details.
